The event is for Manny Valdez, a Cuban-American, father of two, who is battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia and needs a life-saving marrow transplant.

When he came back from WW II (helping to liberate 5 European countries) he was immediately signed to a record deal with the biggest jazz label at that time (Jubilee Records) with an army buddy of his who was also a great singer.  Marks also had the most popular jazz trio in the world, The Three Flames as his back-up band.  This was before Nat King Cole, and The Three Flames were also the very first musical group to have their own TV show during the very beginnings of television in the early 1950s.  One of the “Flames”, Tiger Haynes, went on to become a big star singing “Ease on Down the Road” from the Broadway musical “The Wiz.”  There’s so much more to share…but please come to our event and support his latest song “Borrowed Time.”
