Fox Greenlights “The Masked Dancer”
Fox is partnering with Ellen DeGeneres to produce “The Masked Dancer,” a new celebrity competition show spun-off from “The Masked Singer” and inspired by a segment featured on “The Ellen Show.” In this all-new format, celebrity contestants will perform unique dances, while covered from head-to-toe in elaborate costumes and face masks, leaving audiences to guess their identities.
“We’re still blown away by ‘The Masked Singer’s’ massive impact on pop culture, but when Ellen debuted her own inventive segment, “The Masked Dancer,” on her show, we were truly amazed,” said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, Fox Entertainment. “We are thrilled to partner with Ellen on this new format and take ‘The Masked Dancer’ to a whole new creative level.”

Fox Orders Stop-Motion Holiday Special from Stoopid Buddy Studios
Fox has greenlit a stop-motion holiday special from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the company founded by Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich and Eric Towner. The all-new, irreverent special, written by Tom Root (“Robot Chicken”), will premiere next winter on Fox, as part of its “Not So Silent Nights” holiday-themed programming. As told through the twisted filter of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the visceral, the special will feature classic holiday icons, including Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, who come together with brand-new minor mascots from Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving and even Daylight Savings Day.
Streaming Service Vudo Orders Docuseries “Legacy”
Vudu, the streaming service from Walmart, has greenlit “Legacy,” a docuseries from Whistle, executive produced by recently retired basketball star Dwyane Wade that follows the children of famous athletes. “Legacy” will follow Wade’s son Zaire, a Division I high school senior basketball prospect, as well as Vashti Cunningham, an Olympic hopeful in track and field who is the daughter of former NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham, and Evan and Elijah Holyfield, sons of former heavyweight boxing champ Evander Holyfield. One of the sons, Evan, is pursuing boxing; the other is going in a different direction.
Other athletes and their offspring will be featured in “Legacy.”
SERIES RENEWALS AND CANCELLATIONS
The CW Renews 13 Series for 2012-22
The CW had given early renewals for next season to 13 current series, including freshman dramas “Batwoman” and “Nancy Drew.” Joining them are pickups for “All American” (season 3), “Black Lightning” (season 4), “Charmed” (season 3), “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” (season 6), the reboot of “Dynasty” (season 4), “The Flash” (season 7), “In the Dark” (season 3),”Legacies” (season 3), “Riverdale” (season 5), “Roswell, New Mexico” (season 3) and “Supergirl.” (season 6).
Additionally, in advance of its series premiere next month, The CW has ordered 13 additional scripts of “Katy Keene,” which is based on the Archie Comics characters and stars Lucy Hale, Ashleigh Murray, Jonny Beauchamp and Julia Chen.

TV movie “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” will launch on Disney+ on Friday, February 7. Directed by Tom McCarthy and based on the best-selling book of the same name, the film follows the exploits of our quirky, deadpan hero, Timmy Failure, who, along with his 1,500-pound polar bear partner Total, operates Total Failure Inc., a Portland detective agency. An elementary school oddball, the clueless but confident Timmy (Winslow Fegley) must navigate the world of adults around him, including his overburdened mother (Ophelia Lovibond), her well-meaning boyfriend (Kyle Bornheimer), his teacher/nemesis (Wallace Shawn) and a school-mandated guidance counselor (Craig Robinson), all in his quest to become the best detective in the world.
Telemundo has announced that upcoming Operacion Pacifico will premiere on Monday, February 10 at 10 p.m. The police drama marks the return of Majida Issa (“Sin Senos si hay Paraíso“) to the network, alongside lead actor Mark Tacher (“La Reina del Sur“). Majida Issa plays the lead role of Captain Amalia Ortega, a strong empowered woman living a double life, whose mission is to take down the most wanted Mexican drug lord.
