West Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 5/19/17 – THE AMERICANS starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys is a period spy thriller set in the early 1980s during the Reagan Administration at the end of the Cold War.
Russell and Rhys portray two Soviet KGB officers posing as a married American couple with two children who reside in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.

The series was created by former CIA officer Joe Weisberg. It premiered in the USA on the cable network FX on January 30th, 2013 in English and Russian.
Tim Goodman of THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER called THE AMERICANS “one of television’s finest dramas.” Several other publications have named it one of the best shows on television.
The Season 5 finale of THE AMERICANS (Episode 13 – “The Soviet Division”) will air on Tuesday, May 30th and be followed by a 10-episode sixth and final season in 2018. Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com wrote,
“I’m now convinced that when we close the final chapter of this televised novel we may finally appreciate one of the best shows we’ve ever seen.”
Hoping to prove Tallerico right, this reporter has agreed to review “The Soviet Division” for THE HOLLYWOOD TIMES in a separate article and perhaps “influence” Season 6 on social media next year.
The present political climate in the United States will no doubt attract new viewers for the old episodes of THE AMERICANS!
