A-List Communications’ Supper Suite Popup Series During SXSW Hosts Four Film Premieres

Austin, TX, (March 15, 2017) – A-List Communications concluded their famed Supper Suite event series with four key SXSW film premiere events during SXSW at local hotspots Basecamp and Summit in Austin. Braving persistent evening drizzle, the cast and crew of co-director Eshom and Ian Nelms’ SMALL TOWN CRIME chased away any hint of gloom with a rollicking, exuberant cocktail reception at A-List Communications’ popup Supper Suite at Austin hot spot Basecamp Saturday.

The film might be called SMALL TOWN CRIME but the party was a huge family affair. Star Octavia Spencer (HIDDEN FIGURES, THE HELP) basically art directed the cast and crew photo shoot throughout the venue. Joining Spencer were cast mates including John Hawkes (AMERICAN GANGSTER); Dale Dickey (HELL OR HIGH WATER); Don Harvey (CASUALTIES OF WAR); Jeremy Ratchford (Cold Case); James Lafferty (Underground); Stefanie Scott (INSIDIOUS 3); Caity Lotz (THE MACHINE); Robyn Lively (KARATE KID III) and Michael Vartan (Alias). Other guests included the cast and crew of SXSW short IT BEGAN WITHOUT WARNING produced by Efren Ramirez (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE).

On the Summit Rooftop, the casts and crews of director Brett Haley’s SXSW premiere THE HERO and Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau’s hunting documentary TROPHY celebrated their films’ SXSW debuts with a cocktail reception. Indie distributor Orchard Films is distributing both films. Guests included Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) and director Brett Haley. Efren Ramirez (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE) who party-hopped from the SMALL TOWN CRIME party adjacent at Basecamp downstairs, and Houston King.

Summit rooftop hosted a magical party in honor of Luke Korem’s fascinating documentary on blind card magician Richard Turner, DEALT. In bright downtown Austin sunshine, Turner regaled guests with his stupendous card manipulations, accompanied by his wife Kim and son Asa, along with writer Bradley Jackson.

Finally, Basecamp hosted the pre-premiere reception for Eleanor Coppola’s narrative directorial debut at age 80 (she directed the APOCALYPSE NOW doc HEART OF DARKNESS), PARIS CAN WAIT, starring Alec Baldwin and Diane Lane. Sony Pictures Classics’ co-president Michael Barker joined her along with nephew and band “Rooney” front man Robert Schwartzman.
