West Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/31/16 – On Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya will preside over Thai Night AFM 2016, an event organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce (Thailand) at JW Marriott Santa Monica Le Merigot located at 1740 Ocean Avenue under the theme “THAICONIC.” Thailand remains outstanding in various ways, as well as ready to welcome film producers and entertainment media from all over the world.
Combining a large pool of Thai talents, a high level of professionalism, a fount of imagination and creativity, the uniquely beautiful location of Thailand, and the world-renowned hospitality and amicability of the Thai people, “THAICONIC” represents the perfection which filmmakers and entertainment media seek worldwide.

In addition, the event will also showcase another important highlight. A policy called “Thailand Film Incentive Measures” will be launched to provide cash rebates to those who choose Thailand as a location for their film projects. Details are as follows:

1. Incoming foreign filmmakers and producers must invest their projects in Thailand for more than 50 million Baht.
2. Qualified candidates for the rebate incentives must receive permission to be filmed in Thailand by the Film and Video Rating Committee.
3. The cash rebate is to account for 15% of the investment. Additional cash rebates will be provided in the following cases:
thai2a) Hiring or employing key personnel from the Thai film industry will allow for an additional rebate of 3%.
b) Films that help to promote a positive image of Thailand’s tourism and culture will be provided with an additional rebate of 2%. Therefore, the maximum allowable rebate would be 20%.

thai3Last but not least, a talk on the topic “Thailand Film Incentive Measures: A New Opportunity for the Thai Film Industry Upon the Global Stage” will also be held at the event beginning at 7 p.m. This will allow for discussions between Thai entrepreneurs and foreign counterparts in order to promote and increase opportunities for the film and entertainment industry in Thailand to keep growing.
