Star Trek: Picard Final Season

By: Valerie Milano

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/13/23 – For those who have been anxiously waiting for this day to come, it’s finally here! Paramount+ is set to release the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard. Critics are dubbing this the best season because all the Next Generation favorites will be reunited for a mission to save Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) after Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) receives a cryptic message. That’s right, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Johnathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, and Michelle Hurd are back together to save the day! This final mission is set to change Starfleet and the old crew forever.

This season the show’s producers focused on fixing issues that occurred in the last two seasons, primarily focusing on the storylines and characters that didn’t grab viewers in the way that the originals did. This would also allow newcomers a chance to dive into the series with little prior knowledge. Although this season is a reunion, viewers can get a dose of the new characters, including Jack (Ed Speleers) and Vadic (Amanda Plummer), the daughter of the late Christopher Plummer who played CHANG in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and Vadic is CHANG’s descendant.

During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, showrunner Terry Matalas and executive producer Alex Kurtzman toyed around with the idea of keeping the door open to future episodes. Kurtzman tells THT and other member of the press, “There’s certainly a desire by me and many of the actors to continue some of these stories. But I think the way this season ends, there’s a tremendous opportunity. So, I’d be lying to say that I don’t have a thousand and one ideas ready to go. But you know the nature of television is mercurial. So, we’ll see.”

Star Trek: Picard season 3 premieres on Paramount+ on Feb. 16.
