Altadena, CA (The Hollywood Times) 4/30/19 –Pasadena Master Chorale’s (PMC) Annual Spring Soirée was held on April 27th at Altadena’s Davies Memorial Building in Altadena. The evening was filled with music, gourmet food, libations and an auction to benefit the many needs of PMC.
Jeffrey Bernstein, founder, artistic director and conductor extraordinaire – of PMC– led the chorale in two pieces that were performed for the first time ever in this intimate space. To be enveloped by the Master Chorale’s singers this up, close and personal was like the warmest gravitational wave reverberating through one’s senses.
As Bernstein has said many times: “The gift of singing is a compliment of genetics, skill and training. But when singers gather to share their gifts with the rest of us it’s to help achieve our mission of promoting a love of – and future for – choral music for generations to come.”
PMC’s fundraiser was a huge success – they met their fundraising goal! The chorale surrounded attendees and let their beautiful voices be heard and felt. It’s rare that PMC’s supporters and friends can hear their full sound in an extremely personal environment.
Here is a live sample of PMC from the event: 7 Seconds of Master Chorale
An orchestra to put music to the voices is a new wish – a grand and well-deserved one to have. The Spring Soirée was held to fulfill the usual costs incurred for operations and in the hope to bring that expansion to fruition. PMC is one of the few smaller town choirs with a big city bravado as they continue to strive – as they so honorably perform on a pay after you listen agreement with their audiences. Their costs incurred run anything from sheet music and the performance hall to accompanists and soloists. The singers always need a lift as they boost our spirits and hearts.
