Odd, Odd, and Odder

By Alex Banx

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 09/28/2018 – This weekend, Saturday in Downtown LA, lovers of the bizarre will flock to the Globe Theater to feast their eyes on the oddest of the odds at the Oddities Flea Market. Originating from Brooklyn, this is the first time these 70 plus purveyors of the dark arts from all over the country will gather in Los Angeles.

THT meet with one of the vendors that will be showcasing their works this weekend and asked what makes them odd, this was their response:

“I’m an artist, naturalist, and collector best known for my one of a kind wax-preserved specimen vials. I’m heavily inspired by insects, natural history museums, ossuaries, surrealism, science, death & preservation.”

“It is a tedious process and it took me a few years to get just right, but the end results now are stunning and permanent. Nature and science have always been a source of inspiration for me and I wanted to create one of a kind jewelry to honor, adorn, admire and educate. I strive in providing unique and high quality designs that will last decades.”

From anatomical anomalies to taxidermy, from jewelry to home décor and strange things in between; sponsored by the Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum, Bearded Lady Vintage and Oddities, La Femme en Noir, and Century Guild, Saturday’s Oddities Flea Market is sure to be a spooktacular time.

Tickets are $10 at the door and the event runs from 12 noon to 6 pm., Saturday, September 29.
