U2 bassist Adam Clayton will be honored at the MusiCaresMAP Fund benefit concert in New York on June 26 in support of MusiCares’ addiction recovery programs.
Clayton will receive the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award in recognition of his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund as well as his commitment to helping others with the addiction recovery process.
Performers will be announced shortly.
MusiCares offers a variety of addiction recovery services, including their signature MusiCares MAP Fund. Developed as a pool of resources to address addiction and recovery needs, the fund provides addiction recovery treatment and sober living resources for members of the music community, regardless of their financial condition. The MusiCares MAP Fund acknowledges that a vital part of recovery consists of ongoing support aftercare services.
With 22 GRAMMYs, U2 are among the top GRAMMY winners of all time. The quartet — comprising frontman Bono, bassist Clayton, guitarist The Edge, and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. — are the only group in GRAMMY history to earn Album Of The Year twice, winning for The Joshua Tree for 1987 and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb for 2005.

The band, currently on their One More Light world tour, donated one dollar for each ticket sold to last week’s concert in Lima, Peru.
Save the Children will use this contribution to support a fund for the victims of Piura, one of the regions worst hit by the flooding and heavy rains that spanned several months. More than 300,00 people in the Piura region have been impacted by the floods.

Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation has announced actor and comedian Bill Bellamy will host the 8th Annual “Big Fighters, Big Cause” Charity Boxing Night presented by B. Riley & Co. on Wednesday, May 24 at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
The evening will feature a live performance by Grammy-nominated R&B group En Vogue who will step into the ring to perform the National Anthem, live fights presented by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, as well as a live & silent auction display featuring iconic memorabilia and other one-of-a-kind items and experiences. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation and their mission to fund life-changing research, care and awareness for pediatric type 1 & 2 diabetes, and to help children live healthier lives through diet and exercise.
The evening will honor nine-year-old Jackson Blair with the 2017 Golden Glove Award for his extraordinary dedication and hard work to raise money and awareness for type 1 (T1D) diabetes. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of four, Blair has since been an inspiring advocate for the cause. At the age of six, he was selected to represent the State of California as a delegate for JDRF’s Children’s Congress in Washington D.C. to address members of Congress to lobby for continuing research into a cure. Additionally, along with his parents, Jackson partnered with Arrow Crossfit in La Verne, CA to create an annual fitness event called Fighting Through T1D that not only brings together family, fitness and the community, but also awareness and donations. Through funds raised from his event and his other fundraising efforts, Jackson has proudly raised approximately $30,000 for his JDRF walk team called Jackson’s Insulin Army.

The organization also recognizes the environmental consequences of global warming, which have demonstrated the capability to accelerate and strengthen certain types of natural disasters. Therefore the second goal of MUSICFORRELIEF is to help prevent and decrease future natural disasters by reducing greenhouse gasses, seeking renewable forms of energy and educating the public about climate change.
