The Dream Builders Project will host its fourth annual A Brighter Future for Children Charity Gala on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles, California.
100% of net proceeds from ticket sales, poker buy-ins, silent auction, live auction and donations will go directly towards the Mark Taper-Johnny Mercer Artists Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to expand their comprehensive and innovative effort to apply visual arts, music, dance, poetry, and expressive arts in a pediatric medical setting. Art therapy programs have proven to aid in the healing of patients by alleviating pain, accelerating recovery time, decreasing stress and anxiety, improved treatment compliance and communication and more.
This evening of charity will include a celebrity studded red carpet, black ties, silent buys, poker, and hours of live musical entertainment will be enjoyed by 350+ celebrities and other influential personalities who share one common goal – to give back.
Celebrities that will be attending include Joseph Reitman (Money Monster), Ruth Connell (Supernatural), Lotte Verbeek (Outlander, Agent Carter), Tehmina Sunny (Training Day), Tito Ortiz (MMA fighter), Kristen Renton (Sons of Anarchy), Brian Krause (Charmed), Tara Reid (Sharknado), Don Most (Happy Days), Omar Akram (Grammy Award Winner), Tonya Kay (My Crazy Sex), Celeste Thorson (Treasure Hunter) and many more!

UN Women’s HeForShe Arts Week Kicks Off, Bringing The Spotlight On Gender Equality

First launched in 2016 by UN Women’s Global Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson, UN HeForShe Arts Week initiative aims at raising awareness and funding for gender equality through the arts.
Now in its second year, Arts events coincide with International Women’s Day (March 8) and will be celebrated globally for a week – with events taking place worldwide, from São Paulo to Bangkok. HeForShe Arts Week New York 2017 will launch in partnership with Lincoln Center and the City of New York, with the presence of film stars, world and local leaders and UN officials, amongst others.

On Saturday, April 1, Grammy, Emmy, Tony and Webby award-winning and nominated songwriter (“September”, the Friends theme song), artist, performer, co-author of Broadway’s award-winning The Color Purple, “the most interesting woman you’ve never heard of” (The Washington Post), and native Detroiter Allee Willis will host The Detroit Party honoring Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit’s 25th Anniversary at Willis Wonderland, her historic Los Angeles home, the original MGM Party House.
Co-hosting alongside Willis is Grammy, Emmy, Tony, and Academy Award-winning and nominated performer Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie, Nashville, Kennedy Center honoree) and Grammy and Golden Globe-winning songwriter Lamont Dozier (Holland-Dozier-Holland – Songwriters Hall Of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame).
Willis, a renowned impresario of inspired parties and events-as-performance art, will treat guests to an unforgettable evening of soul food, sing-alongs, live auctions from the Allee Willis Museum of Kitsch including massive amounts of vintage Detroit memorabilia, performances by the Mosaic Singers, and a special sneak peak of Willis’ upcoming Detroit record/micro-documentary “The D”, featuring 5,000 Detroiters, more people in history than have ever been on a record before.
The Host Committee for The Detroit Party includes a “who’s who” of Detroiters in LA, including Motown greats such as original Supreme Mary Wilson, original Miracle Claudette Robinson and songwriter Valerie Simpson — and other famous entertainment industry Detroiters such as music producer Don Was and Actress-Comedian Sandra Bernhard.

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit is an internationally-acclaimed Creative Youth Development organization making comprehensive theatre and vocal music training accessible to Detroit teens from more than 50 different schools annually. Mosaic’s impact goes far beyond performing. 95% of Mosaic performers have graduated from high school and gone on to college — far above the percentages for youth nationally from similar backgrounds.
Mosaic’s young artists have become cultural ambassadors for Detroit, performing in Africa, Asia, Europe and 30 states and provinces throughout the U.S. and Canada, including performances at The White House, The Kennedy Center, The Apollo Theater and Carnegie Hall. Mosaic’s vocal ensemble, the Mosaic Singers, have opened for legends Aretha Franklin, Al Green, The Temptations, and Harry Belafonte, and have performed with Sweet Honey in the Rock, on tour with Josh Groban and on an acoustic album with rock legends Foreigner. Willis, who has received a “Spirit of Detroit” award and an official “Testimonial Resolution” from the City Council for her work on behalf of Detroit to date, has worked closely with Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit for years – including collaborating with Mosaic on her upcoming Detroit record/micro-documentary “The D”.

To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, Comic Relief and Oxfam have joined forces to put on a unique comedy gig at the Leicester Square Theatre on Thursday 8th March.
The gig, called ‘Women Stand Up’ will feature an all-female line up with Kerry Godliman hosting a wonderful night of fresh raw talent and familiar faces.
A host of comedy stars of the future and female comedy legends have already pledged their support, with Bridget Christie, Mae Martin, Shappi Khorsandi, Birthday Girls, Athena Kugblenu, Massive Dad, Evelyn Mok and some very special guests all appearing of the night.
Nikki van der Gaag, Oxfam’s Director Women’s Rights and Gender Justice said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Comic Relief, to highlight the work that both charities fund to help women here in the UK and across the world gain power over their lives. Women are still more likely to live in poverty than men and until we tackle inequality we won’t end poverty. ‘Women Stand Up’ will be a night filled with sharp, funny and switched on women bringing a female perspective to life to celebrate International Women’s Day.”
Comic Relief founder Richard Curtis said, “Red Nose Day has always benefited from the support of incredible British comic talent, so it seems right that this year we’re handing the mic over to some of the most exciting new names on the circuit, from writers to stand ups and actors. ‘Women Stand Up’ is the finale of a brand new series of Comic Relief Live gigs in support of this year’s Red Nose Day. John Bishop, Lenny Henry, Jo Brand, and Elis James have all hosted gigs introducing audiences to some of the most exciting up and comers on the British comedy circuit.
