The book will be published simultaneously with Bloomsbury UK and the Pottermore eBook edition.

Originally published fifteen years ago, now this book has been revisited by the author to bring the original classic up to date with new content that reflects the exciting developments in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. The book served as the inspiration for the Warner Bros. major motion picture of the same name which marked J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut. Scholastic published the screenplay on November 18, 2016, and the book went to the top of bestseller lists nationwide.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been an approved textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since its publication. Newt Scamander’s masterpiece has entertained wizarding families through the generations and is an indispensable introduction to the magical beasts of the wizarding world.

Scamander’s years of travel and research have created a tome of unparalleled importance. Introducing six new beasts, readers will have fun spotting them among the much-loved favorites. J.K. Rowling’s new introduction, written from the viewpoint of Newt Scamander, offers tantalising hints about the Magizoologist’s adventures and relationships. Some of the beasts will be familiar to readers of the Harry Potter books – the Hippogriff, the Basilisk, the Hungarian Horntail. Others will surprise even the most ardent amateur Magizoologist.

Proceeds from the sale of this edition will go to Comic Relief and J.K. Rowling’s own international charity Lumos, charities which help the world’s most vulnerable children and young people, to help them have a better life.

Scholastic will also release a re-packaged edition of the Hogwarts Library Box Set which includes the new edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as well as Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard, with a new case by Headcase design.

Since 2001, Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them have raised nearly £20 million for Comic Relief- a magic amount of money that is already hard at work changing lives. Money raised through the sale of this new edition will be invested in children and young people around the world, preparing them to be ready for the future – to be safe healthy, educated and empowered. They are particularly interested in helping those children who start their lives in the most difficult circumstances, where there is conflict, violence, neglect or abuse.

Lumos is an international non-profit organisation founded by J.K. Rowling to help the estimated eight million disadvantaged children in orphanages around the world to be returned to their family or placed in a loving family environment.

As the crisis in Syria continues to deteriorate, 2016’s best football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, recently offered the children of Syria a message of hope.

Ronaldo, a Save the Children Global Artist Ambassador since 2013, told them that amidst a war entering its sixth year they are the “true heroes,” and has made a generous donation to provide immediate life-saving relief to children and families in Syria.

The donation will help Save the Children provide much-needed food, clothing, emergency medical care and psychosocial support to vulnerable children and families who have been living for years under siege and under constant bombardment.

Ronaldo shared his special message to Syrian children in a video posted on his social media channels. “This is for the children of Syria. We know that you have been suffering a lot. I am a very famous player – but you are the true heroes. Don’t lose your hope. The world is with you. We care about you. I am with you,” said Ronaldo.

“With our partners in Syria, we have been helping children in Aleppo and are supporting the thousands of families who have now fled their homes. Our partners are distributing food baskets and emergency supplies, and are providing medical assistance in the areas where people leaving Aleppo are arriving to, often with nothing but the clothes on their backs. And we run dozens of health centers and schools in the region. After some of the most intense violence and brutal siege we have seen in Syria’s conflict, families urgently need our help,” said Nick Finney, Save the Children’s North-West Syria Country Director.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s generous donation will help us to support children from Aleppo and across Syria, who have suffered things children should never have to live through. We are tremendously grateful for his life-changing support. Ronaldo is not only one of the world’s most iconic sports figures, but he also has become a beacon of hope for millions of boys and girls worldwide – and hope is something that Syria’s children need now more than ever.”

Ronaldo has been using his voice and visibility since the Syrian conflict started to help keep the focus on children front and center, including sharinga photo of a 5-year-old Syrian refugee boy on his social channels this past March who was helped through Save the Children’s kindergarten programs.

The football star is encouraging his fans and more than 250 million social media followers to join him by sharing their own messages of hope to Syrian children on social media, using #Syria.
