Meatballs 4 Niños launched nationwide Sept. 26, 2016.

Sharing a common mission, Vergara and Buca are dedicated to making an impact, boosting awareness and raising funds to support St. Jude. Drawing upon its commitment to the family experience, Buca di Beppo will donate $1 to St. Jude for every lunch and dinner meatball meal purchased.

As a St. Jude celebrity ambassador, Ms. Vergara is passionate about health and wellness for children and families. Because of supporters like Buca di Beppo, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

“We’re honored to be partnering again with Sofia to raise money for such an important organization,” said Robert Earl, chairman and founder of Planet Hollywood International. “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital does everything possible to save the lives of children fighting cancer, and they freely share their research breakthroughs with other doctors around the world, which helps save kids in communities everywhere. Every donation matters, so why not help raise money for pioneering research and treatments for kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases while enjoying a meal.”

“It means so much to me that one of my favorite restaurants is supporting a cause so dear to me,” said Sofia Vergara. “We were able to help so many families with the success of the first ‘Meatballs 4 Niños’ program, it’s an honor to be able to help even more families in need! I hope everyone will visit Buca di Beppo to experience their amazing meatballs and support St. Jude.”

Made from the highest-quality ingredients and slow-cooked in fresh marinara sauce, Buca di Beppo is best known for their half-pound, mouth-watering meatballs, which are made fresh daily.

Pharrell Williams To Keynote At Conference On Diversity And Inclusion In Hollywood

Sep 27, 2016 12:30 pm

Pharrell Williams: Profile

Variety, the definitive voice of the entertainment industry, today announced that the media company will host the industry’s first-ever conference focused on diversity – including gender, ethnicity, aging and sexuality – on film, television and digital outlets.

Over the past several months, the conversation around these topics has intensified, and Variety will lead the dialog by engaging some of the most senior corporate executives and talent in the creative community. The conference is called “Inclusion.”

Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Studios, and multi award-winning musicianPharrell Williams will have keynote conversations with Variety editors in addition to a host of panels on topics ranging from LBGTQ rights to advancing Latino entertainment to the cultural importance of creating programs designed to support underrepresented groups in Hollywood. PwC’s U.S. Chairman Brian Cullinan will moderate a fireside chat with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

“There is no issue in Hollywood today more important and relevant than diversity and inclusion,” said Michelle Sobrino-Stearns, group publisher of Variety. “It is Variety’s privilege and responsibility to lead an industry wide dialogue and bring the decision makers of our community together to promote solutions to counter the lack of minority talent in film and television. This is an issue that transcends the entertainment business, and we are excited to play a role in the broader conversation.”

“Age discrimination is an incredibly important issue, not just to AARP’s 38 million members nationwide, but across all facets of society,” said AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins. “We hope the dialogue at the Variety conference will lead not only to greater awareness of the issue, but to more and better opportunities for talented actors, producers, directors and others in the creative community – whatever their age.”

According to a 2016 report from The Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA, minorities remain underrepresented in Hollywood on every front (nearly 3 to 1 among film leads and directors). In addition, the study shows that U.S. consumers crave diverse film and television content. In fact, “films with relatively diverse casts enjoyed the highest median global box office receipts, and [in television] social media engagement peaked for broadcast scripted shows with casts that were greater than 30 percent minority.”

Variety’s conference will be held on November 1, 2016 at The Montage in Beverly Hills.AARP, PwC and City National Bank are sponsors. Women’s Health Magazine, the fastest-growing international women’s magazine with a global audience of 32 million; FEED, the social business founded by philanthropist and social entrepreneur, Lauren Bush Lauren; and presenting sponsor Macy’s, have partnered for the 5th annual RUN 10 FEED 10 race series across the U.S with a mission to help fight domestic hunger.

After hosting this year’s flagship races in Chicago and in New York City this month, Women’s Health SVP/Publisher and Managing Director Laura Frerer-Schmidt announced that the program has crossed a benchmark, raising over 5 million meals for Americans in need since its launch in 2012.

The New York City race, hosted by Good Morning America Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, took place on September 18, where thousands of participants raced down the West Side Highway for a timed 10K or 5K run with proceeds supporting New York City Metropolitan Food Banks. Prior to race day, Women’s Health, along with Macy’s President Jeff Gennette, Ginger Zee, and FEED founder Lauren Bush Lauren, lit the iconic Empire State Building red to raise awareness for the fight against domestic hunger.

“RUN 10 FEED 10 has grown tremendously since we began the program five years ago,” says Frerer-Schmidt. “The race series offers readers a measureable way to give back, and the opportunity to do something good for others while doing something good for themselves. By continuing our “Run on Your Own” partnership with Runtastic, and making the program even more accessible for consumers with the addition of our 5K race option this year, we’ve brought participation to reach over 1,000 cities. The more people who run, whether that’s at one of our flagship events or in their own neighborhoods, the more we can make a difference.”

The RUN 10 FEED 10 concept is simple: RUN a 10K and FEED 10 hungry people in your hometown. On October 29, RUN 10 FEED 10 will host a timed race at the famed Golden Gate Bridge with special guest host Beth Behrs, star of CBS’s Two Broke Girls and author of The Total Me-Tox Health and Wellness Guide. Each flagship run includes giveaways from sponsors Macy’s, Aveeno, Geico, Hydroxycut, Purely Inspired, and Vitafusion. Each registered participant will receive a limited-edition FEED bag, FEEDbracelet and have 10 meals donated locally on their behalf.

Register now through November 29, 2016 at RUN10FEED10.com.
