Lizzie Borden

By Cindy Wade

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/31/22 – When we think of Halloween, some conjured up visions of ax murders, hauntings and ghosts. Recently, near the anniversary of the murders that for forever branded Lizzie Borden, guests of the home, a bed and breakfast in Fall River, Massachusetts won’t soon forget their Halloween-like experience.

The guests; a mother and self proclaimed skeptic and now believer and her daughter from Pennsylvania got more than a bed and breakfast, they also got a paranormal experience when they checked into the Lizzie Borden House in Fall River Massachusetts.

Whilst exploring the home and examining the autopsy photos of the former Mr. Borden in the dining room, suddenly the lights flickered then turn off completely. As they puzzle over the darkness, the closet door within the dining room opens on it own. The mother and daughter flee in fear.

This event was all caught on the camera installed inside the dining room and is one of the first paranormal activities actually caught on camera at the house. The closet, as some have speculated, it where the murderer of Mr. Borden hid before his death. The video can be seen on YouTube as Lizzie Haunting video.mov.

“While there’s been a lot of paranormal activity reported at the house, this is one of the first or maybe only paranormal activities actually caught on camera at the Borden house”, according to Lance Zaal, the new owner of the home, and the founder of U.S. Ghost Adventures. He is hoping that more paranormal activity will be caught on camera in the house to actually prove that the Lizzie Borden House is the most haunted home in America.

The Lizzie Borden Chronicles

Lance hopes to prove this via the installation of more cameras, capturing more video evidence of objects moving on their own, in addition to having guest record their experiences.

In conversations with two of the tour guides. Jack, a retiree of the fire department, in his 12th year at the home, along with his wife Emily, have stories of paranormal activity that cannot be explained. While not on actual video they have witnessed and heard things themselves including the ghost of the former owners resident cat, Max, who, at 20, passed last year. Both attest to seeing his paw prints appear in the red painted floor in the basement as well as hearing him meow.

Jack has also witnessed a picture coming off the wall and sliding across the floor, a light in the bedroom of Mr. Borden that would turn on after being turned off and of a pane of glass in the original front door that mysteriously broke from the inside.

But most importantly, to Lance, they want to tell you the story of the Lizzie Borden house, and any of the other properties they manage, like the Welty House in Gettysburg, PA which is among the many location tours U.S. Ghost Adventures operates in some of the the most haunted cities in the U.S.

They even have a free app for self guided tours called Junket. There are hundreds of Junkets in over 50 cities across the world to explore.

If your are planning a visit to the Bed and Breakfast, keep in mind to book early as the do become fully booked months in advance. Lizzie’s Ghost Hunt and the Fall River Ghost tour thru the city are scheduled nightly and booked online as well.

Don’t worry if you can’t if you cannot get to Fall River, Massachusetts physically. Both the historic tours as well as the ghost hunt can be experienced virtually and booked online. In addition to that, they have some specific souvenirs in their gift store that are unique to the Lizzie Borden story. Again, according to the Lance, they want to tell you the story.
