June 10–12, 2022

Damn the luck! The testing requirement for air travel expires just hours after I will return from my early summer vacation.

I’m going to miss weekend one of Splash House with KGAY artist Diplo headlining one of the many pool parties this weekend in #IlLoveGayPalmSprings. There are two more on the summer calendar in August and KGAY and Gay Desert Guide will be giving away passes.

And now on a more serious note: Like the Watergate hearings of my generation, the January 6th hearings will certainly go down in history. Thursday night’s opening salvo painted a bleak picture of how close we came to a number of disastrous consequences of that administration’s thirst for power.

I bring it up, dear reader, to shine a spotlight on the primary election this week. We advanced two local LGBTQ+ candidates – Will Rollins and Christy Holstege. The freedoms we have gained and enjoy today are in danger of eroding without an engaged electorate – you! Please support and vote for the candidates who help keep us safe and free.

Be sure to listen to KGAY 106.5 Palm Springs no matter whether you’re near or far from the Coachella Valley. Enjoy this great weekend in #GreaterPalmSprings

Splash House

The June edition of Splash House, featuring headliner Diplo (familiar to listeners of KGAY 106.5!) and a full lineup of dance/electronic music artists, takes place this weekend: June 10–12, at The Renaissance, The Saguaro and Margaritaville resorts, and after hours at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Each resort is a full takeover hosting a poolside stage, rooms, and balconies that are all part of the fun. General admission pool passes include access to all three host resorts. Get tickets

Oscar’s Sunday T-Dance

Oscar’s Sunday T-Dance is a Palm Springs tradition, taking place in their outdoor courtyard every Sunday from 5–8 pm during the summer. If you’ve spent the day by the pool listening to the Retro Sunday Brunch on KGAY 106.5 (Sundays from 11 am– 4 pm), keep the party going afterward at Oscar’s! Concerned about the sizzling summer temperatures? They have outdoor cool air blasters for the extreme hot days. Dance the evening away, the first hour is free and $10 cover charge thereafter. LA Pride!

LA Pride! 2022 (not to be confused with WeHo Pride, last weekend) takes place Saturday & Sunday June 11 & 12. On Saturday, it’s LA Pride in the Park at LA State Historic Park: spend the day showing your Pride with music, festival-style activities, exhibitors, sponsor activations and tons of food and drink. Then, party the night away with Anitta, Syd, Chika, Golden Globe-winner Michaela Jaé, (formerly MJ Rodriguez), and headliner and queen, Christina Aguilera [More info]. The Official LA Pride Parade takes place Sunday at 10:30 am featuring over 120 contingents, starting on Hollywood Blvd. [More info]
