Also filming according to New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis the television limited series “Waco” produced by The Weinstein Company, will begin principal photography mid-April thru the end of June in Santa Fe. The six part series will premiere on Paramount Network in 2018. “The Weinstein Company is known for high quality projects with intriguing storylines and ‘Waco’ is no exception,” said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “A mini-series means a longer production time, more money being spent and more people working.” “We’re very happy to have ‘Waco’ here, particularly because of the number and variety of locations they’re using throughout Santa Fe County,” said County Manager Katherine Miller.
“Waco” is directed by John Erick Dowdle (“No Escape,” “As Above, So Below”) and Dennie Gordon (“Legion,” “Power,” “Empire”) along with producers Harvey Weinstein (“Six,” “Project Runway,” “Lion”), Salvatore Stabile (“The Sopranos,” “Rescue Me,” Revenge” “Power”) and Drew Dowdle (“No Escape,” “As Above, So Below”). Told from several perspectives of those most intimately involved in both sides of the conflict, this story has never been shared on television before and is surprising in its stark contrast to the media narrative at the time and what is remembered of Waco almost 25 years later.
New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis also announced that the television pilot the “Scalped” produced by Horizon Scripted Television, Inc., will begin principal photography for the month of April in Santa Fe, Pojoaque and Laguna Pueblo. “This is a particularly unique project dealing with modern day challenges and issues of cultural identity in Native American communities. Guéra.
