Friends of Project 10 Inc. Awards 2017 Scholarships

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 6/24/17 – On Saturday, June 24th, 2017 the Friends of Project 10 Inc. conferred their annual Models of Excellence Scholarships at a ceremony held at the Camilo’s California Bistro Café located at 2128 Colorado Boulevard in Los Angeles.  The event was hosted by Trustee Gail Rolf via the Charitable Foundation.

This year’s scholarship recipients included Andrea Lopez, Mount Mercy U–Uptown Gay & Lesbian Alliance Community Grant; Max Pagano, Marlboro College–UGLA Vanderhei/Sciacca Memorial Fund; Alexandre Dennis, U of Oregon–The Kaufman Family Memorial Scholarship; Sophia Beauvoir, Stanford–The Catherine Dowell Memorial Scholarship; Natalie Lee, USC–The Steve Gideon Memorial Scholarship; and Alonzo Hernandez, SFSU–The Uribe/Rolf Leadership Scholarship.

Many in the audience were moved by the “eloquence and power” of the young scholarship recipients, who will now go forward and try to make the future a better place.  We at THE HOLLYWOOD TIMES congratulate them all and hope for their continued success!

About the Friends of Project 10 Inc. Models of Excellence Scholarship Competition:

 

Scholarship applicants are limited to graduating senior high school students residing in these Southern California counties: Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura.  Winners must be present to receive the award.

Friends of Project 10 Inc. awards $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000 scholarships to senior high school students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, from public, private and parochial schools who have advanced the civil rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) population.  All monies proceed from private donations. Graduating students must be going onto higher education.
