Celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan will prepare a gourmet feast for the Board of Directors of Project Angel Food and a group of food bloggers on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the kitchen at 922 Vine Street in Hollywood.
The cooking demonstration will include a new take on Indian cuisine featuring:
- Katsu Burger
- Nasi Goreng (Traditional Basmatic Dish)
- Hummingbird Cakes
Maneet, star of the Food Network’s Chopped, will be assisted a group of culinary students from LA Kitchen who will learning some of her cooking secrets. Maneet is a graduate of the Welcome Group School of Hotel Administration, India’s top culinary and hotel management school. After interning at India’s finest hotels and kitchens, Maneet came to the United States and was the only woman beating 40 male chefs for an executive chef position at the prestigious Vermilion Restaurant in Chicago. She later launched the restaurant in New York and after eight years founded her own company Indie Culinaire, an avant-garde culinary and hospitality company.
Maneet’s appearance is sponsored by Authentic Royal, a leading company that imports Basmati Rice. Authentic Royal is also making a donation of $5,000 worth of rice to Project Angel Food.
Later that evening Maneet is hosting an intimate dinner for Project Angel Food donors, which will feature this special menu:
- Lamb Biryani
- Basmati coated Shrimp Tempura
- Chick & Waffles (Basmati Style)
And for Dessert:
- Empanadas
- Monkey Bread
The 4-course meal will also feature a wine pairing menu prepared by Master Sommelier Bonnie Graves.
The mission at Project Angel Food has remained the same since its inception 26 years ago — to feed and nourish the sick, by delivering healthy meals throughout Los Angeles County to men and women living with HIV/AIDS. The mission now includes medically tailored meals delivered to people combatting cancer, diabetes, kidney failure and congestive heart disease. More than 98% of the clients are living well below the poverty line and Project Angel Food is the lifeline filling a vital need in all communities. The client demographics are 40% Latino, 30% African-American, 21% Caucasian, 5% Asian and 4% other.
