Tell us about the Formidable Woman®. What makes you most proud of your brand?
Having been a woman who has struggled with confidence, my journey to gaining it made me want to see every woman experience it. It completely alters how we show up in the world. It opens doors and rolls out carpets. So, I’m most proud to provide a platform that focuses on holistic confidence, competence, and clarity for women—globally.
Our ideal client is the woman who looks great on paper but who hasn’t yet accepted her greatness. She needs an usher as I did.
You have spoken out against gender oppression and disempowerment. Tell us about defining moments in your life.
The most defining moments in my life have each taught me that I have to continually unbecome™ everything that isn’t really me.
- The day my female boss told me I would never get promoted after I took up for a colleague.
- When a guy I was seeing in college choked me out and I discovered he was a functioning alcoholic.
- When I was sexually harassed by a male boss and he kept his job but I was let go.

As the CEO of Formidable Woman Magazine, what are the important issues of our day?
Giving women a platform to share their stories, their voices, and their confidence. I have a passion for seeing women learn from each other in a patriarchal society. We have to move differently still to get into decision-making roles in 2021 and, while we have a woman for Vice President, we need more of this to trend. I believe, after God, women are the answer to the world’s largest challenges.
How is Formidable Woman® the platform to be seen as a “Thought Leader” on a global scale?
What sets us apart is our holistic approach to building and equipping women with confidence. Confidence is such a key factor in personal, social, emotional, and professional development. It literally transcends all areas of our lives and can make or break both our success and access. With this in mind, we have built and continue to offer products, tools, courses, and services that build this confidence in women—Business, Image, Mindset, Finances, Relationships, Health, Education.
Our Magazine has featured amazing women such as Princess of Gospel, Jekalyn Carr, OWN’s Renee Lawless, HGTV’s Egypt Sherrod, Baroness Michelle Mone, and more.
How are you expanding your brand?
Formidable is rolling quite a few initiatives this year. We are releasing our new app, Formidable Mingles where power couples meet and create their own love story. It will be available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. We are also excited about the launch of our newest publication, Formidable Men Magazine, the brother publication to Formidable Woman Magazine. Our Health and Beauty sector is releasing new tools for women including an online fitness program and cookbook/cooking series.
You were named Atlanta’s Power 25 and lauded by the Mayor, GA House of Representatives, and President Barack Obama. Tell us more.
So, when I first moved to Atlanta I immediately began mentoring girls to increase their confidence to help them avoid some of the pitfalls I had fallen prey to. In that, I did not know that my life’s work would then be to teach, train and create products and services that build confidence in women. Long story short, as I began to move in my calling by holding awards shows for girls across the southeast and holding conferences, campaigns on the capitol, and free training, I was soon being recognized by these powerful entities.
What is the best advice that you have ever received?
The best life advice I have received is to know that every fabric of my being was designed to carry out my assignment—nothing lacking and nothing by mistake. This has given me added assurance that I am enough. So, I show up as such.
The best business advice I ever received came from a book by Dr. Lois Frankel, author of Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office, who encourages women to be kind but never nice. It has very much become a part of how I govern my business affairs and life in general.
You just launched Formidable Woman Beauty. What can we expect to see in 2021?
Yes, we are so excited about our new luxury product line. Our herbal eye gel, vitamin C serum, and detox mask are hits! Women are also loving our collagen powder and new matte lipsticks! We will continue to create, build, and breathe life into products and services that make women more confident, competent, and clear™.
