Country Singer Kree Harrison Returns to Spotlight with Highly Anticipated Second Album

By Remy Franklin

Los Angeles, California (The Hollywood Times) 2/19/2020 —
Kree Harrison, the runner up competitor on the 12th season of American Idol, recently performed a special Los Angeles showcase at Hotel Café on Tuesday, February 11 previewing her new highly anticipated album. Her forthcoming single titled “Make It Easy” (written by Chris Gelbuda and Claire Dunn) will be released on February 21st and was included in her setlist. Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Gabriel Kelley opened the show for Kree with his emotional Georgia-rooted vocals.

Raised in Woodville, Texas, Kree spent her childhood singing at churches, rodeos, and competitions. At the age of 10, she had already accomplished more than most after scoring a development deal with Lyric Street Records and becoming a regular performer on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.

After garnering a worldwide following from her success on American Idol, this new phase in her career finds Kree teaming up with some of Nashville’s most prominent songwriters for her latest project. CHOSEN FAMILY TREE, titled based on the idea that family is not only determined by blood, mixes Kree’s personal connections as it features a guest appearance by Brothers Osborne’s lead guitarist John Osborne on the title track along with a timeless rendition of John Lennon’s “Mother”.

When asked about her creative process and where she pulls inspiration, Kree had plenty to share. “I started writing at age 13, but my process is different than when I first started,” she began. “Inspiration comes from anywhere – other songs, overhearing conversations, a memory. For this new record, we rented a house and had people coming in and out. We just dove into what everyone in the room was feeling and started writing.”

Produced by Jordan Lehning and Skylar Wilson, the 12 tracks on CHOSEN FAMILY TREE include Kree’s radio single, “I Love The Lie,” which was written by Chris Stapleton, Morgane Stapleton and Liz Rose; the trio also penned song, “That’s How Hearts Get Broken.” Additional songs include “Nothing In This World,” “Stone Cold,” “The Chokin’ Kind,” “I Won’t Be Your Second Choice,” “Get Away with Anything,” “The End of the World,” and “Lie with Me.”

“I want people to believe me [when they hear this record]. Just like I can feel the joy in Otis Redding’s voice when he sings, I want people to know I’m sharing a piece of my heart that they’ve never heard before. I want to make something people can relate to,” Kree expressed.

Kree Harrison’s second album CHOSEN FAMILY TREE is due on June 12th on One Vision Music Group. Harrison confirmed she will be touring to promote the album.
