“CBS THIS MORNING” IS THE ONLY BROADCAST NETWORK MORNING NEWS PROGRAM TO POST YEAR-TO-YEAR GAINS

“CBS THIS MORNING” IS THE ONLY BROADCAST NETWORK MORNING NEWS PROGRAM TO POST YEAR-TO-YEAR GAINS IN VIEWERS FOR THE WEEK AND TELEVISION SEASON-TO-DATE

 CBS THIS MORNING was the only broadcast morning news program to post year-to-year gains in viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 6. Television season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is also the only broadcast network morning program to grow in viewers.

CBS THIS MORNING was up +5% in viewers (3.71m from 3.55m) for the week when compared to the same week a year ago. During the same period, NBC’s’ “Today” declined -9%, while ABC’s “Good Morning America” dropped -4%.

 Television season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is delivering 3.63 million viewers (up +1% from 3.59m a year ago). For that same period, NBC is down -6% in viewers and ABC is down -5%, according to Nielsen.

CBS THIS MORNING launched Jan. 9, 2012, and each weekday morning, Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, three News & Documentary Emmys, three Daytime Emmys and the 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
