BTS, SHAWN MENDES, KELSEA BALLERINI, CAMILA CABELLO AND BEBE REXHA AMONG WINNERS AT THE 2018 RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS

Music Legends Janet Jackson, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson Honored

Global K-pop phenomenon BTS were the big winners at the “2018 Radio Disney Music Awards” (RDMA), music’s biggest event for families, sweeping every category in which they were nominated. Additional winners included Shawn Mendes, Kelsea Ballerini, Camila Cabello and Bebe Rexha.

Taped at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the 2018 RDMA featured the following performances: Carrie Underwood and Ludacris performing “The Champion” together for the first time live; Kelly Clarkson singing a medley of her hit songs, including “Miss Independent,” “Since U Been Gone,” “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Heat,” among others; Meghan Trainor singing a mashup of “Let You Be Right,” “All About That Bass,” “Can’t Dance,” “Me Too” and “No Excuses”; Charlie Puth performing “The Way I Am”; Marshmello performing three of his hits, “Alone,” “Friends” and “Silence”; Echosmith singing a medley of “Over My Head” and “Cool Kids”; and current “American Idol” winner Maddie Poppe performing her debut single, “Going Going Gone.”

Highlights from the show included Janet Jackson receiving the first-ever “Impact” Award from long-time fans Raven-Symoné and Normani Kordei; Carrie Underwood receiving the “Hero” Award from  former “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson; and Kelly Clarkson receiving the “Icon” Award from “American Idol” winner Maddie Poppe and “The Voice” winner Brynn Cartelli; members of the #BTSarmy accepting the award for “#SQUADGOALS – Fiercest Fans;” Marshmello descending from the ceiling; the cast of “Raven’s Home” rocking out to Kelly Clarkson; Carly Pearce accepting the ARDY for “The Freshest! – Radio Disney Country Best New Artist”; Max & Harvey accepting the ARDY for “Doubletap – Favorite Social Music Artist.”

The “2018 Radio Disney Music Awards” premiered Saturday, June 23, on Disney Channel and multiple Disney-branded platforms, including Radio Disney, the Radio Disney app, the DisneyNOW app and Disney.com/RDMA. Encore presentations will air throughout the weekend on SATURDAY, JUNE 23 (9:30 p.m. ET/PT), SUNDAY, JUNE 24 (11:00 a.m. ET/PT), and MONDAY, JUNE 25 (1:00 p.m. ET/PT).
