Cynthia Underwood is an artist and writer who was a participant at prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and was in Museum of Modern Art/PS1’s inaugural Greater New York art exhibition. During the opening of the exhibition she painted a SAAB with house paint and read a poem she wrote about painting stolen cars. She’s been to Dracula’s Castle and notably, taught Bosnian and Croatian refugee teenagers photography in their refugee camp during the 90’s in Serbia. The photo documentary she made about the experience can be seen under the Photo Documentary tab in the portfolios on her website www.cynthiaunderwood.com.
In addition to writing and making art, Cynthia is also a Design Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office where she sees the newest innovations. Cynthia survived being in a coma from a car wreck and also, astoundingly, was in a plane wreck. Ouch! You can follow Cynthia on Facebook and Instagram at @cynthiaunderwood. Her cat, Stewie, is also a writer for The Hollywood Times. His Instagram is @Stewie_the_Art_Expert_Cat. Her newest book featuring Stewie as an art critic is set to release summer 2019.
