Angela Bassett & Courtney Vance to be Honored by Coalition for At-Risk Youth

10th annual CARRY gala set for Nov. 17 at Beverly Hilton Hotel 

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 18, 2017) –  Favorite actors and lauded activists Angela Bassett (American Horror Story) & Courtney Vance (The People v. OJ Simpson) will be honored at the 10th annual CARRY benefit, a star-studded event on Friday, November 17, 20176::30PM at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, (Beverly Hills Ballroom), 9876 Wilshire Blvd., at a star-studded event benefitting the prestigious C.A.R.R.Y. organization founded by esteemed celebrity dermatologist, Dr. Pearl Grimes.  C.A.R.R.Y. is dedicated to improving the lives of foster and at-risk youth by providing life-changing social skills, scholarship programs and pro-bono dermatological services.

Over 300 of Southern California’s most influential and socially conscious supporters will attend the organization’s annual fundraising event of year in an evening hosted by talk show personality Rolanda Watts which will also honor Dr. Robert Blackman of HealthCare Partners Medical Group with the Lifetime Achievement Orchid Award.  Celebrated Pete Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra will serve as entertainment with a special appearance  by legendary Grammy R&B artist,Thelma Houston (Don’t Leave Me This Way). A number of philanthropic name celebrities including Yara Shahidi (Black-ish), Jenifer Lewis (Black-ish), Michael Einzegir (Incubus), Ray Parker Jr. (Ghostbusters) Ernie Hudson (Grace & Frankie), Bai Ling, Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr., are confirmed to attend with more coming on board (list developing).

The 10th annual C.A.R.R.Y. Gala will celebrate the organization’s decade of service to at-risk youth in the greater Los Angeles area. “We cherish our youth and the difference we make together to impact the lives of the underserved and neglected population who, with CARRY’s love and support, can fulfill their potential,” says founder and Gala Chair, Dr. Pearl Grimes.  “Resilience, compassion and the spirit of ‘giving’ to children who need a helping hand most is what heroes are made of.”

ABOUT CARRY

The Coalition for At-Risk Youth is an all-volunteer effort led by Dr. Pearl E. Grimes. In less than ten years, they have raised over $1 million, helped thousands of foster kids and sponsored hundreds with their unique programs manned by volunteers who are devoted to build character and self-esteem of children who often never had any via arts & crafts, entertainment, dance and horseback riding.
