Amy Herman Schechter – Celebrity Real Estate Expert & TV Personality

By Jules Lavallee

Los Angeles, California (The Hollywood Times) 6/06/2021- Amy Herman Schechter, is a New York Real Estate superstar and an air TV personality. She is a top producing agent at SERHANT and can be seen making cameos on Bravo’s hit show MDLNY. She is a guest lifestyle expert on NBC’s New York Live and recently she was named one of New York City’s TOP 100 Real Estate Agents by the Wall Street Journal, adding yet another accomplishment to her illustrious career thus far.

Why is real estate your passion?

I thoroughly enjoy seeing the way people live, the thrill of finding the needle in the haystack, and the joy on a buyer’s face when I find them a home they adore. I believe each day I work I have an opportunity to enhance a person’s quality of life in some capacity.

Tell us about some of the Celebrity Homes.

Celebrity Homes are always fun to represent and also to visit. Most often we work with the house manager or business manager during the listing process. Most of the homes have extra bells and whistles like enhanced SMART HOME technology and security systems.

Everyone is fascinated by who lives where. One hot topic this year is where the girls of S&TC live now. SJP just sold her $15M Charles Street home in early 2021 and is allegedly enjoying a nearly 14,000 SF mansion she renovated on W.11th Street. Chris Noth lived at 45 e 9th Street in Greenwich Village for years but about 4 years ago he purchased a home on the Upper East Side. Cynthia Nixon called Bleecker Street home last we heard but was looking at Tribeca pads earlier this year. Wait, do you want to know where every single character lives? 😉

Many celebrities live along the East Coast – hiding out in CT (Greenwich) NJ (Rumson & Alpine) NY (Hudson Valley & The Hamptons) Tennessee (Memphis) and of course FL (Miami).

As a native New Yorker, Amy takes pride in standing out as one of the leaders in New York City’s real estate community amassing over $500M in sales while closing hundreds of high-profile deals all over the city. Amy’s expertise, loyalty, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to achieving her client’s real estate goals have helped her become the true real estate powerhouse she is today.

Are you seeing an increase in housing sales in the Hamptons?

Actually, there is a huge increase in demand but a housing shortage in the Hamptons so the number of sales remains lower.

You are a guest lifestyle expert on NBC’s New York Live. Tell us about the trends of today.

I absolutely love to discuss all things fashion and lifestyle and look forward to doing a new segment soon with NBC. Right now the real estate market has been so hot that it has left me with little time to do my passion projects!

You were named one of New York City’s TOP 100 Real Estate Agents by the Wall Street Journal. Luxury real estate looks glamorous. What does it take to be a Top Real Estate Agent in NY?

NYC is a very cut-throat marketplace. The city that never sleeps is filled with brilliant consumers who are well-researched and expect the world to be delivered by their realtors. In order to really thrive, you need to always check your email and be available for last-minute showing requests but I also recommend not taking people’s emotions personally. Real estate buying and selling can cause great stress so being able to navigate all different types of personalities is key.

Can you tell us about the hot Vacation Rentals this season?

Rentals are through the roof in hot spots like The Hamptons, Nantucket, and Aspen because many people are not traveling abroad this summer.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my daughter, Alessandra. She never ceases to amaze me. Every day presents a new challenge but I always work to be the best role model I can be for her. Her passion and zest for life are inspiring.

Post-pandemic, can you share advice on how to prep your home for top dollar offers?

The easiest way to prep your home for top dollar offers is to make sure that everything looks as new and neutral as possible. Have a fresh coat of paint put on and use furniture and accessories that are as light and neutral as possible, sticking to greys, beiges, creams, and whites.

What exciting plans do you have for 2021?

Ah! I can’t wait for Fashion Week to ramp back up this September in NYC. And we have a wedding in Beverly Hills this October. Before that, I will be spending a lot of time in The Hamptons this summer enjoying the people, vineyards, shopping, and beaches. Usually, I travel to Europe but this will be a great year to enjoy life in the States.
