“As a DJ, there’s always the perfect track to play, and I hope to have a version of that for every moment,” Chicago producer John Summit recently told DJ Mag’s Megan Venzin in his March 2022 cover story.  As one of the hottest-rising artists on the scene, his remix of Kx5’s “Escape” featuring Hayla is a strong example of that.  Summit dazzled his audience with a perfect moment at Coachella this past April when he debuted his mesmerizing rendition of Kaskade and deadmau5’s smash hit.  Now John Summit’s official remix of “Escape” is out today, June 3 via mau5trap/Arcade alongside an extended version.

The John Summit remix arrives on the heels of Kx5’s explosive debut performance at EDC Las Vegas May 20.  Headlining the circuitGROUNDS stage on the Saturday night, deadmau5 & Kaskade performed to a packed stage of thousands and were joined by “Escape” vocalist Hayla.  The set was a highlight for fans and press alike with Jason Bracelin of the Las Vegas Review Journal crowning Kx5 the ‘biggest pairing of the weekend’ stating,  “Kaskade and deadmau5 are good foils for one another, the former’s more refined melodic sensibilities blending well with the latter’s head-down progressive house and often relentless, near-hypnotic throb. Performing together, they balance catchiness with conclusiveness.” Adding Graham Berry of Billboard, “When either deadmau5 or Kaskade arrive onstage it’s a given that you’re about to experience a big-deal EDC moment. When they showed up together to give the debut performance of their new experimental collaborative project Kx5, it was like a rave dream made real.”

Meanwhile, the original version of “Escape” released in early March has reigned for seven weeks in a row at #1 on the Billboard Dance Mixshow chart ranking as most weeks at #1 of any song in 2022. The record has also topped the Mediabase Dance Radio chart at #1 for four weeks. Find it now moving into pop radio after recently hitting #1 at dance music radio with an unprecedented 600 weekly spins, marking the first #1s for both Kaskade and deadmau5 since when they hit the top spot for their songs together “Move For Me” in 2008 and “I Remember” in 2009 and then Kaskade for “Dynasty” and deadmau5 for “Ghosts N Stuff” both in 2010.

Next up look for Kx5 to headline the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum December 10.

About John Summit:

Hailing from a city steeped in house culture, Chicago’s John Summit has quickly become the hottest name in dance music worldwide. His feel-good floor fillers take the pumping grooves of his hometown’s classic house music, add a healthy dose of melody, and top it all off with 2020’s studio polish. Summit’s prolific output has resulted in the accumulation of five million monthly Spotify listeners, the top selling artist across all genres on Beatport in 2021, and a #1 track on US Dance radio with his record “Human.” In 2022 he’s set to tour across the globe with key festival plays at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Bonnaroo, Parklife, and more. With the announcement of his new label/event brand Off The Grid, Summit is displaying no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

 About Kaskade:

As a household name in electronic music for over two decades, multi GRAMMY Award-nominated musician Kaskade needs no introduction. His list of achievements is a mile long: 12 studio albums, seven GRAMMY nominations, the first solo electronic dance artist to sell out both Navy Pier in Chicago and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the first DJ to ever secure a Las Vegas residency, the only DJ to have played the Grand Canyon West Skywalk, the only musician to conceptualize and create an entire season of music for video game giant Rocket League, headlining multiple live streams during quarantine, a Fortnite feature concert, and the first electronic artist to ever headline Coachella.

Less tangible but even more important has been his influence on dance music tastes and culture for generations of listeners. Often Kaskade is one of the artists who introduced now-veteran listeners to the genre, and such fans typically become evangelical fans for life. In 2019, he worked with multi-award winner Meghan Trainor on “With You,” Cheat Codes “Be the One” and Gorgon City on “Go Slow,” and official remixes for the likes of Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, and Gwen Stefani earlier. In 2020 Kaskade leaned into the mandatory time off from touring by releasing the most consecutive music, back-to-back of his career. Stay tuned for more moves from the original curve bender Kaskade.

About deadmau5:

Joel Zimmerman, more commonly known as deadmau5 (pronounced ‘dead mouse’), is one of the world’s most respected electronic music producers of modern times. Enjoying international chart success with his platinum-certified single “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff,” as well as “Professional Griefers,” “Sofi Needs A Ladder” and “I Remember,” he has also released seven critically acclaimed albums. The multiple JUNO Award-winning and GRAMMY®-nominated artist’s ability to push the boundaries of his talent grows at an equal rate to his fan base, which counts 15 million and more over his combined social media channels. His latest music offerings include “Pomegranate” with The Neptunes, “Bridged By A Lightwave” with Kiesza, “Channel 43” with Wolfgang Gartner, “Hypnocurrency” with REZZ, “When The Summer Dies” with Lights, “Hyperlandia” featuring Foster The People and “this is fine.” with Portugal. The Man. In the live realm, his 2019/20 U.S. cubev3 tour featuring production of his own design and implementation ranked in the Top 10 of Pollstar’s top tours globally. Beyond his music career, he is also a co-founder of gaming venture PIXELYNX and is an executive of HD streaming platform StreamVoodoo.

About Hayla:

Hayla is a British singer and songwriter, with an extraordinarily powerful and unique voice hailing from Formby, Liverpool, UK. Over the last couple of years Hayla has featured on a number of significant dance records with the likes of Wilkinson, Example, PBH & Jack, Friend Within, Catz n Dogz, Will Clarke, Maxinne, Yellow Claw, Tobtok, Ben Nicky, deadmau5, Kaskade and more.  Wilkinsons’ “I Need” graced the Radio1 playlist for over eight weeks early in 2019 which was closely followed by PBH & Jack’s “Waiting All My Life” which also became a staple across Radio1, Kiss FM and other dance radio shows.  However, it was Hayla’s solo releases that followed and vocal production that have truly made her mark in electronic music. She released her own self penned first solo single “Naked” to critical acclaim, followed by “Colours.”  Both releases gained full specialist Radio 1, Capital Dance and Kiss FM support and secured playlist covers and high positions across Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming platforms.
